Someone Like Me is a FREE safe, supportive digital community for people affected by cancer - whether you're a patient, survivor, or family member. We connect you with others who truly understand what you're going through, because they've been there too. You're not alone in this.
Once you create your profile, you can connect with others who share a similar cancer experience, read and share stories, listen to our podcast, explore helpful information in the Useful Resources library, and discover specialist practitioners through the Cancer Care Support directory. Everything is designed to help you feel supported, understood, and less alone.
Someone Like Me is free to download and use. Certain premium features may be introduced in future phases, but our core community will always be free to access.
Anyone affected by cancer is welcome - patients, survivors, caregivers, and family members. Whether you're newly diagnosed, mid-treatment, or years down the road, there's a place for you here.
Download the Someone Like Me app, tap Get Started, and follow the simple steps to set up your profile. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with - your privacy is always in your hands.
Go to your profile page and tap Edit Profile. You can update your photo, bio, cancer experience, and any other details at any time.
Yes. We take your privacy seriously. Your personal information is never sold or shared with third parties. You are always in control of what you share and who can see it.
Someone Like Me is available on iOS and Android. You can download it from the App Store or Google Play.
You can browse profiles of other members and send a wave request to anyone you'd like to connect with. Once they accept, you can message each other directly and support one another through your journey.
Once connected, you can message each other freely, share stories, and offer mutual support. Many of our connections grow into lasting friendships.
To block or report a user, open your conversation with them, tap the three-dot menu, and select Block or Report. Our team reviews all reports to help maintain a safe and respectful community.
Someone Like Me helps people connect with others who are in a similar situation. Cancer patients, survivors, and people living with cancer will only see and connect with other cancer patients, survivors, and people living with cancer. Family members and caregivers will only see and connect with other family members and caregivers. This helps ensure conversations are relevant, meaningful, and based on shared experiences.
Yes. Your messages and connections are private. Other members cannot see who you are connected with or what you have discussed.
Tap the Stories section and select Share Your Story. You can write about your experience, your treatment, your emotions, or anything you feel might help or inspire someone else. Every story matters.
Stories are visible to the Someone Like Me community. You can edit or delete your stories at any time from the Shared Stories section of the app.
You can respond to a story using the preset reaction options available in the app. Sometimes a simple message of support can make a meaningful difference to someone sharing their experience.
Yes. All stories are reviewed to ensure they meet our community guidelines. We want this to be a safe and supportive space for everyone.
No. Shared Stories are shared through your profile, helping to create a trusted and supportive community built on real experiences and meaningful connections.
Your data is used only to provide and improve the Someone Like Me service. We never sell your personal information to third parties. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Other members of the Someone Like Me community can see your profile. You are in full control of what information you choose to share.
If you have a safety concern, please contact us at vanessa@someonelikeme.ie. We take all concerns seriously and will review them as soon as possible.
Go to Settings, scroll to Account, and select Delete Account. This will permanently remove your profile and all associated data from our platform.

Yes. Someone Like Me is fully GDPR compliant. We are committed to protecting your personal data and upholding your rights as a user.
On the login screen, tap Forgot Password and follow the steps. A reset link will be sent to your registered email address.
Go to Settings, tap Notifications, and adjust your preferences. You can turn off all notifications or choose which ones you'd like to keep.
